Recognizing the need for efficient use of existing water supplies, the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) have developed guidelines and requirements governing the development of
water conservation and
drought contingency plans for public water suppliers.
The City Plan
A new plan was approved by City Council on April 23, 2019. The new plan,
Water Conservation & Water Resource Management Plan for the City of Allen, Texas, was implemented May 1, 2019.
The City Plan was adopted through Ordinance Number 3657-4-19 on April 23, 2019, and can be found online in
Municode. Strategies include restricted and modified outdoor watering practices as well as a rebate program.
