Citizens Fire Academy

Citizens Fire Academy (CFA) is an eight-week program that gives residents an opportunity to learn about Allen Fire Department's structure and operations. The course is free and takes place each spring.

Participants must be at least age 18 and live or work in Allen. If you have questions, call our Public Education Coordinator at 214.509.4420.

Course enrollment

Enrollment closed for spring 2023
The course takes place on eight consecutive Thursdays with the potential for optional Saturday activities. Mandatory background check performed all applications.

All Citizens Fire Academy applications are reviewed by a committee. Applicants are notified of their status individually.

What you'll experience:

  • Demonstrations of emergency operations
  • Fire and life safety training
  • Optional: Ride along with on-duty firefighters on emergency calls

While the CFA program offers in-depth understanding of the department, the program is not to be confused with a fire service training academy for future career firefighters.
