APL Summer Reading 2023 All Together Now May 30-Aug 4

Summer Reading starts on Tuesday, May 30! Pick up a reading log to keep track of your reading. Please see the age groups below for specific reading program requirements. Make sure to complete your log and claim your prize by Friday, August 4.

Important Dates

May 30: First day of Summer Reading
June 2: First day of summer programs
June 19: First day to pick up your prize
August 4: Last day to turn in your log and pick up your prize

What Can I Read?

Books, eBooks, audiobooks, eAudiobooks, comics, magazines, eMagazines, newspapers, graphic novels, manga, blogs, and anything else you can get your hands on to read! You can also count books read to you or that you read to someone else.

Programs and Performers

There are a variety of programs at the library this summer for all ages. Visit the program pages for children, teens, and adults or view the summer brochure!

Family Movies

Held in the Auditorium each Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. starting June 6. Seating is available first come, first served. Program attendees will be eligible to win a Blu-ray copy of the movie at the end of each show.  

YOUTH (BIRTH - GRADE 6)

Choose your challenge! Read 50 books or 500 minutes to complete Summer Reading.  

Print your reading log or pick up a log at the Library. For every book you read or every 10 minutes you read, color in a numbered space. When you've colored them all, you've completed Summer Reading! Turn in your log at the Children's Desk between June 19 - August 4 to pick up your prize (while supplies last). Children will receive a prize book, coupons, a small prize, and an entry into a prize bag drawing. See prize bag examples in the slideshow. Only one log and prize per person.

TEENS (GRADES 7 - 12)

Choose your challenge! Read 50 books or 500 minutes to complete Summer Reading.

Print your reading log or pick up a log at the Library. For every book you read or every 10 minutes you read, color in a numbered space. When you've colored them all, you've completed Summer Reading! Turn in your log at the Children's Desk between June 19 - August 4 to pick up your prize (while supplies last). ADULTS (AGES 18+)

Choose your challenge!  Read 5 books or 500 minutes to complete Summer Reading. That's it!

Stop by the Library to pick up a reading log to keep track of your reading.  Adults who complete Summer Reading will receive a tote bag containing items relevant to the theme, a coupon for a fresh-baked cookie from the Food for Thought Café, and a free book from the Friends of the Library book sale.
